Over the Thanksgiving break, new carpet was installed in our meeting room. Many thanks to Sharon and Jim Shipstead and Dawn and Lee Mehan for generous financial contributions that supported this project. With the updated bulletin boards, the meeting room refurbishment is now complete. All the programs as well as community groups that use the meeting room benefit from having an updated area to meet.

Your Name in Lights
In an effort to provide increased library information to the community, the Friends of the Atascocita Library is seeking donations to fund a new electronic sign to replace the existing informational sign.
Your Name in Lights. With a goal of raising $8,000, a thank you, with the donor’s name or business name, will run on the sign for the following period of time: two weeks for a $500 donation; one week for a $250 donation; or one day per $50 donation.

FOAL Book Sale August 23
Members of FOAL have a special preview on Friday, August 22 from 5 – 7 PM. Memberships are available at the door. The sale is open to the public during library hours on Saturday, August 23, 10 AM – 5 PM. There is a wide selection of books as well as some music cds and more! Shop early to grab the popular items!
Mural Completion
The mural was completed June 27, but I wanted to share the full wall.
New mural has arrived!
Thanks to a generous donation by Richard and Joanne Jacobson, we have a new mural arriving in our meeting room. This mural was selected by staff and approved by FOAL’s board. Additional thanks to Mr. Chris Johnson for installing the mural so expertly!
For those who had names on the past mural, we have kept those names and will be applying them to the new mural soon. We are very excited about the new mural and will follow up with a new picture once the entire piece is installed.
May 6, 7 PM: FOAL Annual Meeting
FOAL Annual Meeting will begin at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 6 at the Atascocita Branch Library. The meeting will cover proposed changes to the by-laws, nomination and election of officers, budget approval, and year review. The meeting will be brief and followed by a special program, Star Wars: A Galactic Event.
Children wishing to participate in the special program need to register through the library website. If you have any questions, please contact the library at 281-812-2162.
Thinking of donating?
The Atascocita Library appreciates the support of its donors. Books and media donations may be used by the Library or given to FOAL for periodic book sales with proceeds benefiting the Library. Monetary or needed equipment donations may be recognized by FOAL by a letter of appreciation or (if donations amount to $500 or more within a year) by a plaque. The plaque may be displayed in the library. Other forms of recognition may include mentioning the donors in periodic newsletters or on the FOAL website.

February 8 Book Sale great success!
Thank you to all our volunteers and all our customers! We had a great book sale on February 8, and it could not have happened without you! Our next book sale will be in the fall, and, of course, there are the book sale shelves in the library lobby available during open library hours for your quick pick. Books, magazines, and videos for sale through FOAL are all from donations.
